Workshops
Focused Workshop on Breast Cancer in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, Cairo, Egypt, December 15th - 18th, 2008.
A focused workshop on breast cancer will be held in collaboration with the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of WHO in December, 2008 in the context of a larger meeting devoted to cancer control.
Pain Control and Palliative Care Workshop, Burkino Faso, November 11-15th, 2008
The French Branch of INCTR, AMCC is planning a follow up training course oriented towards training "trainers" to help physicians and nurses learn to provide effective pain control and palliative care for their cancer patients.
The Challenges of Palliative Care Development in Nepal, Latipur, Nepal, February 1-2nd, 2008
This workshop was aimed at developing and strengthening palliative care in Nepal. The first day of the workshop was for medical doctors and the second day for nurses. This was a workshop held with INCTR/NNCTR, INCTR's Nepalese Branch.
Workshop on Palliative Care, Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, December 11-15th, 2007.
AMCC, INCTR's French Branch, held a workshop devoted to palliative care at the University Hospital of Souro Sanou. Over 50 doctors and nurses from Senegal, Mali, Niger and Burkino Faso participated.
Workshop on Palliative Care, Cape Town, South Africa, October 25, 2007
AMCC, in collaboration with conference organizers of AORTIC, organized a workshop for physicians and nurses on palliative care: policy and practice.
Workshop on Scientific Writing, New Delhi, India, September 17-21st, 2007.
This workshop was designed to assist young investigators to prepare scientific papers for publication. It was held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. The participants in the workshop had been selected on the basis of posters they presented at INCTR's last Annual Meeting. Support was provided by the Office of International Affairs, NCI.
Cancer Control in East Africa, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, August 22-24th, 2007
INCTR held its first thematic workshop jointly with the International Atomic Energy Agency's Program of Action for Cancer Therapy at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute. The purpose of the workshop was to identify problems or obstacles within each of the thematic areas, all of which were related to diagnosis and treatment, in East Africa in general, and Tanzania, in particular, and to propose feasible solutions that might be implemented with or without the need for additional resources. The themes of the workshop included: Access to Care, Histopathology, Supportive Care, Transfusion Medicine and Palliative Care. Each theme was introduced in a plenary session held, on the first day, by an East African health professional. Visits to departments or other hospitals relevant to the thematic area were conducted on Day one. Day two was devoted to group discussions in each of the thematic areas. On the final day, rapporteurs provided summaries of the group discussions and these were followed by general discussion and final conclusions.

Symposia
Symposium on Pediatric Palliative Care, Muscat, Oman, February 25th 2008.
Members of INCTR's PAX Program organized a symposium on pediatric palliative care as part of the regional meeting of the International Society of Pediatric Oncology that took place in Muscat, Oman. This was sponsored by NCI's Office of International Affairs and included presentations on INCTR's programs in India and Nepal.
INCTR Educational Symposium, Bangkok, Thailand, November 15-17th, 2007
An educational symposium on lymphoma, breast cancer, lung and gastro-intestinal tract cancer was held in Bangkok. Ninety physicians from 11 countries participated. The symposium was supported by Roche.
