BIOGRAPHY
Tahir I Shad

    Tahir I Shad is Associate Professor of Political Science and International Studies with expertise in East African, South Asian, and Middle Eastern affairs, and Director of International Studies at Washington College, a private liberal art’s college on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. As an Associate Dean there, he built an expansive array of international exchange programs, and international field experiences for students of all disciplines, while recruiting visiting students and marketing Washington College as a “study abroad” site. He also was instrumental in expanding internship opportunities abroad through the US State Department, US AID and the Hansard Scholars’ Program in London, and developing several model diplomacy programs. Dr Shad received his BA with honors from the School of African and Asian Studies at the University of Sussex and his post-graduate certificate in education from the London Institute of Education, London University. He earned his M.A. and Ph D in political science from the University of Pittsburgh. He has had articles published in Arab Studies Quarterly and in Regime Change and Regime Maintenance in Asia and the Pacific, published by the Australian National University. He is a member of the International Studies Association, the International Political Science Association, and the African Studies Association.
