INCTR PAX is the primary consulting partner in the IAEA/PACT Program, helping to enhance palliative care in Tanzania, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka and Yemen. Important objectives in these collaborations are the integration of palliative care services into national cancer control programs, the addition of palliative care education to medical, nursing and paramedical curricula, and interaction with narcotic regulators to improve opioid availability.
INCTR is represented on the steering committee for palliative care of the Middle East Cancer Consortium (MECC) and has performed needs assessments related to palliative care for selected centers in MECC countries. It has assisted MECC in the development of strategic plans for the improvement of pediatric palliative care services.
Through its collaboration with the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA), it has worked to promote palliative care in Pakistan – focusing on improving the availability of opioids and to introduce palliative care as part of the medical school curriculum.
