The PAX team presents lectures and seminars at oncology conferences and symposia with the goal of educating oncologists and other healthcare providers in palliative care.
The team provides education and training at the institutional level about palliative care emphasizing pain and symptom management and psychosocial support.
The team also supports the education and training activities of INCTR USA and AMCC, INCTR’s French Branch. Doctors, nurses, social workers and other health care workers from Brazil, Tanzania, Niger, Benin, Mali, Cameroon, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Cyprus, Pakistan, India, and Nepal have benefited from training and education workshops provided by the PAX team, INCTR USA and AMCC.
The INCTR Palliative Care Handbook, developed by the INCTR PAX team, is currently available in both an online version (http://inctr-palliative-care-handbook.wikidot.com/) and a pocket-sized companion book. The handbook provides a quick and practical reference for healthcare professionals providing palliative care within resource-constrained health care systems.
Partial support for the production and distribution of the handbook has been provided by Eli Lilly and the Office of International Affairs, NCI.
