INCTR's Structure

INCTR has consultants and volunteers dedicated to the accomplishment of its objectives. Although its headquarters are located in Brussels, it has branches in Brazil, Canada, the United States, France, Egypt, India and Nepal as well as an office in the United Kingdom. Branches are legally established non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that contribute to and conduct programs and projects that are relevant to INCTR's mission.

Resource development, administration and programs or specific projects within the context of INCTR programs are supervised directly by the branches. Programs and projects are developed and conducted in collaboration with partner institutions involved with cancer research, diagnosis and treatment, including palliative care and education in countries with limited resources.

INCTR utilizes health-care professionals familiar with the problems of developing countries to enable it to achieve its objectives. These individuals assist INCTR by providing expert scientific advice and may serve on INCTR committees or participate in project development.

How INCTR Works

INCTR develops local capacity within LMIC by training health-care professionals to establish centers of excellence in the delivery of feasible, affordable and effective care (including palliative care) that is considered, "best practice" so that they, in turn, can train others within their country or region.

INCTR works through its branches in implementing various programs and projects conducted in collaboration with partner institutions in developing countries that are monitored by field visits.

INCTR integrates research into its programs by documenting and evaluating actual data collected through project implementation. Such research may include a wide range of projects, from cancer education for the general public to developing treatment outcomes, including palliative care. This, in turn, enables health-care professionals working in LMIC to become familiar with the most pressing issues and to develop plans to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
