The Annual Meeting of the INCTR for 2004 was held on October 2nd - 5th, 2004 at the Conrad Hotel in Cairo, Egypt. The Organizing and Scientific Committee was comprised of representatives from INCTR, including INCTR Egypt. Approximately 400 delegates from over 40 countries attended the meeting. The program for the first day included the INCTR Award Lectures, the President's Annual Report, Program Reports, and a Proffered Papers Session with oral presentations of selected abstracts, and more than 70 posters were also presented. Simultaneous sessions on "Cancers of Regional Importance" and "Pediatric Cancers" were held on the 2nd and 4th days of the meeting. INCTR Strategy Groups gave reports on projects and activities. The third day included a session on "Regional and Global Programs and Perspectives on Cancer Control". This session was followed by a workshop on "Strategies for Cancer Control in Developing Countries". Two new features of this year's Annual Meeting were a consensus panel discussion on the "Role of High Dose Therapy Requiring Stem Support in Resource-poor Countries" and a multidisciplinary conference on the "Management of Hodgkin's Lymphoma with Mediastinal Involvement". Numerous committees and ad hoc groups met in the course of the meeting. The meeting concluded on the 5th of October with a session entitled, "Maximizing Resources and Improving Communications with Information Technology".
Annual Meeting 2004 was granted accreditation by the Accreditation Council of Oncology Europe (ACOE).
